Author Jane O’Brien is one of my favorite writers and she is also a wonderful social media friend. She writes popular novels set in western Michigan. Her books take a sympathetic look at the loves and struggles, both inward and outward, of seemingly ordinary people. When you read a Jane O’Brien romance book you relax and enter a calm world of beauty, caring, and love. But please don’t think that means her book are boring- far from it! There are tragedies, sadness, difficult romances, even ghosts that will pique your interest.
Reading a book by Author Jane O’Brien is like spending time with a good friend that you can count on. You know you are in for a calm, warm, understanding time together. Jane O’Brien writes with a lyrical and pleasant voice. Author O’Brien’s positive stories and her books remain in my heart even after I have finished them. Highly recommend.
Many of the conflicts in her books involve the challenging relationships of mother and daughters. In the dedication to The Dunes & Don’t Antiques Emporium (White Pine Trilogy Book 2) Jane wrote:
I would like to thank my two beautiful daughters, Michelle and Angie, both authors in their own right. Diane, my first born, works as my proofreader and has always been extremely encouraging in my desire to become a writer of fiction. Angie, daughter number two, serves as my editor, and not only put in endless hours at the computer, but also made very astute comments about my storyline and character development. Without them both, I would never have been able to bring The White Pine Trilogy to print. I love you both, my sweet girls.
When I realized that Jane had daughters who also wrote books, I knew I had to share this mother and her daughters with you for Mother’s Day. And then I learned this from Jane…
I was a Mother’s Day baby, and my mother’s first child and only girl. She always told how the nurses in the hospital gave her violets. She was so impressed by that. So Mother’s Day changes dates but it’s always the Sunday on or near on my birthday. It’s always been special time for me.
I wrote my first book when I was 10 years old. It was handwritten with a pencil and consisted of 10 chapters about a girl becoming a homecoming queen who was then asked to ride a float in the Tournament of Roses Parade. I passed it around to all of my friends and told them I wanted to be a writer.
Today, as a grandmother, I am finally fulfilling my lifelong dream, after having my sixth (now eighth!) book published. I live in Western Michigan and write romances set in that area. I am also interested in genealogy so most of my stories are about family and the intricate connections on the family tree of people in a small town.
Jane has written two trilogies, The White Pine Trilogy and The Lighthouse Trilogy. She recently launched a new series, The Unforgettables. Set in the 1920’s, Book One tells the story of Ruby and Sal and in Book 2 we meet Maisy and Max. Click here for more information about Jane and her books Maisy and Max is just being released!
