It’s the holiday season at Mistletoe Manor, a charming and historic bed and breakfast in Windy Pines, Idaho. For the past two years, new innkeeper Klarinda Snow has been hard at work to make the Manor a popular getaway destination.

As the book begins, she and her trusty helper Myrtle check the register and realize that for the first time ever, all the rooms are booked for a Tuesday in December. Good news, right?

Good news if you like locked room murder mysteries. A locked room mystery is like the game Clue, where all the ingredients are locked in one room or area and it seems impossible that a crime could have been committed. And Then there were None by Agatha Christie is a famous example.

Author Holly Tierney-Bedford makes marvelous use of this murder mystery genre. She gives us a quaint old inn, a seemingly motley assortment of interesting young adult guests and an impending blizzard that strands everyone at Mistletoe Manor. Humor, mayhem and murder abounds.

Mix in quirky but loveable inn employees (Myrtle loves a plumber named Rod Showers) and a troupe of confused cops and you will have the best time at Mistletoe Manor. There are plenty of surprises and twists to keep you turning the pages. A fun read any time of the year, but especially near the holidays! -Jena C. Henry
