Wine and Gold!

Update- The regular season is almost finished and the teams are jostling for position in the post-season. How are you faring in life? Are you happy with your standing? It’s time to celebrate that thrilling time that we all look forward to- the opening of the NBA season. I am an enthusiastic fan of the Cleveland Cavaliers. In northeast Ohio we are used to the highs and lows, or lows and lower, of our professional sports teams. For 52 years, we have waited for a championship, baseball, football, or basketball. Every time we fall short, we despair and then rebound with hope. We encourage each other, “Wait until next year!” or “This year will be the year we win a championship!”

I plan to watch all 82 Cavalier games this season, either on TV or at Cleveland’s Quicken Loans arena, and I will cheer on my Cavs as they focus on claiming that championship trophy THIS YEAR. I am “All In”.

LeBron James is the leader of the Cleveland Wine and Gold. He is a four time NBA MVP. He dominates basketball and he is also a leader and winner off the court. Based on LeBron’s example, here are 23 ways for you to have a championship year and be an MVP in your own life, too.

1.   Give your neighbors gifts of cupcakes.
2.   Be a student of life and of your work or calling.
3.    Leap and dunk, live life with flair.
4.    Stand tall and strong and stay in peak condition.
5.    Rap with your buddies in a hot tub
6.    Surround yourself with talent on and off the court
7.    Try something new- act in a movie

8.   Drink wine with friends
9.   Be proud of your spouse, kids and family; they are Number One
10.   Make new friends- invite them to sit by you on the bench
11.   Take time for vacations and ride a banana boat
12.   Wear a snazzy hat and stylish clothes
13.   Buy your friends nice presents from Apple
14.   Encourage people-don’t judge

15.   Develop a riveting glare
16.   Load your pals into a convertible- head to a classic drive-in
17.   Support your hometown (I am a kid from Akron, Ohio, too!)
18.   Throw chalk dust- create signature move
19.   Impose a social media moratorium when you need to focus
20.   Watch Downton Abbey
21.   Write nice letters as a way to reconcile and heal
22.   Give back- start a charity or support good causes
23.   There is a time to humble brag
