Kathy Merlino is the author of Kathy’s Retirement Blog, a blog about her perspective and thoughts on the emotional side of retirement. Some of Kathy’s posts focus on how her readers face their unhappiness and disillusionment in retirement. Charli, my book character, and I enjoy reading Kathy’ thoughts and insights about creating a positive life in retirement. There was a time when my book character Charli could relate to being let down by the promise of retirement.
In the first book of The Golden Age of Charli series, Charli’s so called Golden Years begin with a jolt:
Charli spent her thirty, forties and even fifties in peace and harmony aligning her marriage, mortgage, careers, and children. As she stumbles into a new phase of life- retirement- she wonders if it is too late for happily ever after?
By the second book of the series, Charli and her husband have faced some of their initial challenges, but then they must join together to face some weighty health concerns. Charli does her best to stay positive and optimistic.
