Peace and Calm
My husband and I left many of our chilly fellow Ohioans to fend for themselves while we spent the month of February in Florida. We relaxed by the pool, I read some (lots!) of books, my husband golfed a few times, and we both had fun at many of the resort activities.
Our daily routine usually began with us strolling through the lovely tropical setting to the hot tub. We soothed our northern bones and joints and visited with other vacationers. Then we participated in a fitness activity, such as yoga, or water aerobics. In the afternoon, we enjoyed other events, such as making salsa or even…playing bingo
Our favorite pastime was to float around the lazy river pool. Sun and eighty-some degrees, and a beautiful pool was the perfect combination. We drifted with the currents, waved and chatted to people, and then gently paddled some more. Yes, I know, we really are blessed! At least once a day though, I added something else to my floating routine.
I focused on staying mindful and in the moment as I drifted. No intrusive thoughts or worries, no reminders or list-making, just me looking at the blues in the sky, the greens in the foliage, listening to the water sounds, feeling the water’s spray.
One day, I decided to video my lazy river world, so I would remember the calm and peace of it. I thought you, my friends, might like to watch it, too. I have found that it’s soothing to watch when I need to take a break from social media or writing.
I realize the video may be too long for you to watch all at once. Whether you come “float” with me or not, or whether you use my lazy river as a time to meditate, please do take a few minutes to breathe deeply and send yourself some love.
I videoed this with a GoPro Hero 3+. I held it in my hand and stabilized it on my sunglasses! And I tried to walk smoothly through the water.
I am a writer, blogger, book reviewer, and bon vivant and encourager. I have lived my entire life in Tropical Ohio. My goal is to make friends with everyone in the world. I wrote a fiction series, The Golden Age of Charli, that presents the problems and praises, and the love and laughter of family life and retirement. My passions are blogging, reading and reviewing, and writing. My life is a WIP.
