Before I tell You about Kate’s Book-
Let’s Start with MY “First Date”
How many first dates did you ever go on? A few…too many? Do you remember the “first date” that turned out to be your “last date” because he or she was your HEA ending?
My “first date” with the guy that I eventually married “for better” was on New Year’s Eve, many many years ago. Maybe it wasn’t really a “first date” more like a “first encounter.” A good mutual friend set us up. She and her husband were having a New Year’s Eve party and she invited me to be this guy’s date. She thought I’d like him.
Well, I really didn’t like him. We all met at a German restaurant for dinner, before continuing on to the party. Our group was seated at a long table, and I was at the end, so not close to anyone else except The Guy I was supposed to be with. I was on his left. He never talked to me. He kept his attention on the whole gang, on his right- laughing, joking, but never included me. So I ate my sauerkraut and spatzle and smiled vaguely at everyone.
At the party, he sat on the sofa and I mingled. After midnight, our hosts decided to show a movie. The title begins, Debbie Does… No judging, please The Guy warmed up a bit towards me as the cheerleaders had fun. But I didn’t stay to watch much. (I had driven myself.) Oh well.
The Guy called me for a real date…in April! We went to a fancy place for dinner and then a movie. This time it was The Killing Fields which I didn’t like much better than Debbie but through the magic of “however these things work” (je ne sais quoi?), we hit it off just fine and that really was my last “first date.” We didn’t wait too long to get married and our life has been “for better” ever since. We don’t go to the movies very much.
I’d love to hear you first “last date” story.
What do you do when you’ve agreed to a pact with your friends to get married, but neither you nor the guy in your sights is quite ready to fall in love?
Bailey De Luca is the last of her friends to complete the Last First Date pact—to marry the next guy she dates. But lady luck must be in a bad mood, because so far, it’s all come to nothing.
Everywhere she looks people are in love. Everyone except her. Is she fundamentally unlovable? Or is it that she’s already found—and lost—The One? Whatever the reason, one thing’s for sure: Bailey never expected to be alone at thirty.
When one of her friends announces her engagement with a rock that could eclipse the sun, Bailey throws herself into a new business. Starting up Cozy Cottage Catering seems like the perfect way to bury her head in the sand. But fate has other ideas, and soon Bailey is swept off her feet by the oh-so cute Ryan Jones.
Ryan may seem like the perfect combination of Prince Charming meets Thor (without the hammer), but is Bailey ready to be with him?
Or will the ghost of her past love prevent her from finding happiness again?
Escape to New Zealand in this fun, feel-good sweet romance.
