Get ready to read the funniest Christmas book of the season. This delightful story shines a spotlight on a “Typical Family” as they attempt to create a magical, or “nice”, or maybe just an “ok” holiday. I double-dog-dare you to keep track of how many of the hilarious events described in Liz Davies’ latest heart-warming book have also occurred during your family’s holiday season. But this year- may you all have the best Christmas ever! I thank Rachel’s Random Resources for the opportunity to read and share this book with you.
For once, Kate Peters would like a happy, family Christmas; the kind of Christmas seen in the movies. She wants harmony and happiness, smiling, glowing faces, tables groaning with food, carol singing around the tree. She wants love, kindness, and goodwill to all men, especially in
her own house.
What she doesn’t want is drama. Absolutely no drama, whatsoever.
But what she gets is three stroppy children, two equally stroppy grandmothers, a husband who can’t manage to change a lightbulb, and Pepe the poodle.
It’s no wonder she feels unappreciated, overworked, and ignored. At the end of her tinsel-coated tether, and with the only Christmas spirit being in the form of a bottle of raspberry gin, Kate decides to leave them to it, and see how they manage without her.
A quiet little hotel somewhere near the sea, where she can pretend Christmas doesn’t exist, is just the thing she needs. Isn’t it?

JENA’S REVIEW
If you truly do want to have the best Christmas ever- Read This Book!
Every year when the calendar switches to the fall season, we start to look forward to the holidays. We smile and tell ourselves, “This year will be the best Christmas ever.” And we all know how that turns out.
As we’ve been often told, “The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.” Yes, we all yearn for a Hallmark Christmas but somehow the Christmas card scene of lovely children smiling under the tree as the doting family looks on and Dad lights the fire and Mother and Grandmother set the table gets totally upended by an avalanche of cranky relatives, tired and sick children, too many activities, too many expectations.
I could totally relate to the Peters family in Liz Davies’ latest hilarious and heart-warming story. The reason the author’s humor works so well is because her observations are spot-on. Mother Kate is a friendly, kind, warm-hearted woman who makes her family her top priority. Dad Brett works hard, means well, but stays on the sidelines. The three children are typical teenagers. Then there are the “wrinklies” as the older daughter calls the two grandmothers who come to visit for Christmas. And we can’t forget the doggie who gets into plenty of trouble.
Kate Peters looks forward to a happy Christmas with her family. But this year when the problems quickly begin, Kate can’t seem to keep up and her vision of a warm family celebration is soon upended. I am sure we have all experienced most of the holiday trouble that occurs in this delightful page-turner. Author Davies has vividly captured a “Typical Family Christmas”. The only difference is that this year, the Peter’s family manages to…well I’ll let you find out what happens!
Read this book and enjoy a delightful holiday treat. Try to read it before the holidays start- you might be able to save your own “Typical Family Christmas”. Thanks to Rachel’s Random Resources for a digital review copy. This is my honest review.

Liz Davies writes feel-good, light-hearted stories with a hefty dose of romance, a smattering of humour, and a great deal of love.
She’s married to her best friend, has one grown-up daughter, and when she isn’t scribbling away in the notepad she carries with her everywhere (just in case inspiration strikes), you’ll find her searching for that perfect pair of shoes. She loves to cook but isn’t very good at it, and loves to eat – she’s much better at that! Liz also enjoys walking (preferably on the flat), cycling (also on the flat), and lots of sitting around in the garden on warm, sunny days.
She currently lives with her family in Wales, but would ideally love to buy a camper van and travel the world in it.
