The story of Ashley, the Time Traveling Journalist and He Who Needs No Introduction, Alexander the Great, is enthralling. I read the first book in the series and you can find my review here. Since the first fascinating book, I read each new one as soon as I can. Here is my review of the second book.
JENA’S REVIEW
Son of the Moon by Jennifer Macaire
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
“Alexander King of Heaven and Earth.”
“That’s me,” he said modestly
This is the third book of The Time for Alexander Series. The author has created another masterful and enthralling story. There is no let up in the beautiful writing, which showcases the grace and vitality of the times, and the powerful relationships. We continue our intimate, upfront and personal journey with Alexander, with his wife Ashley as our guide and storyteller. The previous book described the long journey of Alexander and his army. Now, Alexander’s mighty force heads to Egypt, a country Alexander has longed to see.
The author fluidly moves from grand tales of intense battles, and treacherous plots, to the everyday life of friends and family in a tent, 3000 years ago.
Son of the Moon solves a pressing problem that has grieved Ashley and Alexander, a storyline that began in the earlier books. This is a big part of the ongoing story that I know myself and other readers have been waiting for. This book also begins to show Ashley and Alexander trying to solve a future problem.
The world is changing from a time when gods and the fates controlled everything to a time when men begin to realize they can create their own destiny. Alexander is the face of the future. And Ashley is from the future.
Son of the Moon is a satisfying read for anyone who loves historical fiction with strong and passionate characters. I have enjoyed the detail of the previous two books in the series, and this book was an exciting and satisfying read. Like the earlier books, Ashley and Alexander continue to develop their unique soul-bond and as part of their intimacy, they share their physical love with each other frequently.
I highly recommend his book and encourage readers who haven’t read the first two books to get started!
Thanks to the author and Rachel’s Random Resources for a review copy. This is my honest review.
