Cam’s career and romantic prospects take a nose dive once she becomes guardian to her young nephew. She leaves a bustling Dutch city to move to a small, dull country town in England, and where once she restored magnificent old paintings to their former glory, now she operates the paint-mixing machine at a soulless hardware store. As much as she adores little Rowan, life has lost some of its sparkle.
However, a handsome and charming customer causes her heart to flutter once more. Fate, alas, seems determined to hamper any possibility of them getting together. So what chance does a tiny, naughty hamster have of bringing happiness this Christmas?
This is a festive, light-hearted and uplifting romcom novella.
JENA’S REVIEW
A Christmas Hamster by Stephanie Dagg
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Spoiler alert- the hamster and the cat steal the show!
Ok, you say, I can understand a cat, but how could a hamster be the best character in the book?
Easy! “The Harley”, yes that’s this teeny furball’s name, is daring, mischievous, comical and he brings this sweet holiday romance to life! And that’s him on the cover of this darling book! (You may also notice that there’s something about a “hamper” on the cover, too.)
Oh, so this book really is a holiday romantic comedy! Tell me about the swoon-worthy humans! I will be happy to, but please remember, it’s the hamster who spreads the love!
Cam is a pleasant, practical and caring young woman. She is the guardian for her young nephew, Rowan. (Who is about as adorable as the hamster.) They live in a small town in England. Cam has a small menagerie at home, and she rides her bike in the rain to save the planet. She works for a DIY mega store and in the course of her day, she waits on a customer who needs paint.
So, the meet cute is at a DIY store? Yes, Cam is dazzled and entranced by him. But how will she ever see him again- he was just a customer passing through? Aha- leave it to The Harley.
The book is filled with engaging characters- in addition to the customer Declan and his cat, you will enjoy getting to know Declan’s aunt, Cam’s parents and friends, even a befuddled school headmaster. Cam faces a few entertaining challenges, but she stays loving and calm and you will infused with Christmas joy at her happy ever after ending.

Author Bio – Stephanie Dagg
I’m an English expat living in France, having moved here with my family in 2006 after fourteen years as an expat in Ireland. Taking on seventy-five acres with three lakes, two hovels and one cathedral-sized barn, not to mention an ever increasing menagerie, makes for exciting times. The current array of animals ranges from alpacas to zebra finches, with most letters of the alphabet represented. And of course there are hamsters!
I’m a traditionally-published author of many children’s books, and have been self-publishing fiction and non-fiction for adults for the last seven years. I combine freelance work as an editor with running carp fishing lakes with husband Chris. When time allows I enjoy cycling, geocaching, knitting and gardening.
