In February, (I think, who knows what day it is right now!) Jessie Cahalin, the innovator of one of my favorite book sites, Jessie Cahalin Books in my Handbag nominated me for the Sunshine Blogger Award Nominee.
Jessie Cahalin is an author. Her lovely debut novel “You Can’t Go it alone” is a success in the Uk and the US. Jessie is finishing her second novel, and she features authors and books on her blog .
I always enjoy reading Jessie’s blogs and she has many followers and fans- so thank Jessie!
Jessie is a friend to all on social media and her wit and humor are sunshine. She is a wonderful friend to me and has encouraged me in my writing and my life. And she is English, so I’ve learned lots of words and new recipes. I am blessed to know Jessie. Ok on with the Sunshine Award!
When I received the good news from Jessie, I was on vacation in Florida, so I decided to enjoy the real sun in Florida, and blog about sunshine when I returned to northern Beautiful Ohio.
Of course, life had changed by the time I made it back to my writing perch. All over the world, we are united in dealing with the Corvid-19 virus. Which makes this an even a better time to celebrate positivity, hope and sunshine!
Jessie sent me 11 clever and intriguing questions. But first, I have a question for her. Jessie, since I am a “nominee” for the Sunshine Blogger Award, when will the actual award be presented? Will we have a fabulous evening of toasts and award accolades? Or are we postponing this, too?
Which three photographs would you present to capture your life? Feel free to include these in this post if you can.
Three photos! The first is of my sis and me in Florida. Our husbands are golfing. This photo shows my love of family and good times together! (And my sis and I are OK Boomers- we have a new podcast!!)
Island the Bulldog is smiling for you in the second photo. He is my younger son’s dog. Again, I love my family, dogs and isn’t this cutie a cuddly bundle of smiles and sunshine?
My family and I are FANS! of Cleveland Cavaliers NBA basketball. Whether at games, or watching on TV we are bonded by our love of sports.
I believe laughter is one of the best tonics in life. When was the last time you could not stop laughing?
Good question- I love to laugh, but I really can’t remember. Probably when my sis and I were trying to be serious while recording a podcast episode. Or when the doggie and my hubby did something zany?
Explain the last act of kindness you showed to a friend or stranger.
I don’t really think of myself as a “kind” person. The most usual way I show support is to contribute with monetary donations. And I try to smile and be positive!
Do you prefer the winter sun or the summer sun? Explain your response.
Living in Beautiful Ohio, we have mainly cloud days- so any glimpse of the sun as it swats away the clouds is fine with me.
Describe your perfect Saturday evening.
Yes.
Not in the form of a question.
Ok- sheltering at home!!
What sorts of characters do you prefer to meet in novels?
Genuine, quirky, sparkling, creative (kinda like me, haha!)
Give one sentence of advice to yourself when you were sixteen.
Here’s my advice: “You should charge more than 50 cents an hour to babysit three little kids.”
Is there a friend from the past you would love to get in touch with and why?
Yes! I love this question. Yay Jessie.
About 30 years ago, my boss was a woman who was about 10 years older than me. She was finishing her Ph.D in Education, she was a potter, a gardener, a marathoner, curious about everything. She was a mentor, best friend, a hoot, and an inspiration. I married, changed jobs, she moved to a new job and I don’t know where she is now. I’ve checked on social media. Peg if you are out there- thanks for your friendship and I’d love to meet up with you again!
What is your food heaven and food hell?
Fun question!
Food heaven– fruit and whipped cream! Just those two by themselves are sweet. Fruit and whipped cream on yogurt, my daily breakfast, is scrumptious, and once a while, on ice cream, shortcake or a waffle is sublime!
Food hell– fast food! Not that I haven’t eaten it- but no more.

Share your favourite recipe.
Currently, for our health, I’m making simple meals with a protein, and lots of veggies.
I am also exploring the depths of our pantry. Have your tried canned spicy chili on a baked potato? Pretty tasty!
If you could travel back in time where would you visit and who would you take with you?
I have always been a fan of time travel. Movies, and books in this genre thrill me. I’m ready to go! I would start with going back to Israel, when Jesus was actively preaching and teaching. Want to come with me, Jessie?
Blogging takes me to a happy place, and I love it when people join me.

I am now supposed to nominate other friendly bloggers and list rules, etc. But in these trying times, I am going to say- if you are a happy blogger, or anyone who feels like lighting one little candle, then share a positive post on social media, send a greeting card, call a friend. Here are some bloggers I follow- leave me some of your favorite bloggers in the comments.
