Friends and Readers, please meet and welcome our guest blogger, Maureen Aliprandi, author of the new healthy living guide, THE I’M POSSIBLE JOURNEY- living with sugar addiction. I wish I had met Maureen so I could have learned from her positive encouragement years ago. I spent too much time encumbered by overweight despair and guilt, and my unhealthy fixation with calories, “bad” food, and the dreaded number on the scale. If you have ever thought “I’d like to feel better, I’d like to be better”, then here is your opportunity to get to know Maureen and her book and start your own I’m Possible Journey!
I “met” Jena C. Henry a few months ago. A marketing representative of iUniverse directed me to her website as an example of what they could do for authors. More than noticing what the marketing department could do, I noticed the style and substance of the author! I commented on her blog; ordered a copy of her first book, The Golden Age of Charli: RSVP (which I read, enjoyed and reviewed); and struck up a friendship! We’ve never met for lunch, but she’s invited me here for launch! The launch of my book!
Transitioning from blob to jog by way of a blog! That blurry skier in the XL Men’s ski jacket is me. And that’s my daughter with me in that same jacket zipped! The running picture is me finishing my second half marathon! Happy and sugar free!
The I’m Possible Journey is my record of doing something I always thought was impossible: maintaining a healthy weight— in control, not being controlled by food. It’s my record of learning to live with my sugar addiction. Although I wrote about sugar addiction, the things I learned along the way were basic life lessons. The I’m Possible Journey is not just for people who struggle with sugar. It’s for people who live or work with people who struggle with sugar. Or struggle with anything. And if there are no struggles, there’s still a lot of hilarious word play and poetry to enjoy.
I set out to conquer sugar To start my fifties free
I shed lots of pounds
I gained back my mindI can face the future as me!
And now, because
Of try-umph and dare I have written a book That I’d like to share! The I’m Possible Journey
You’re possible, too! Read it and find
What you can do for you!
My initial purpose for publishing this book was to have a reference guide to turn to for motivation and inspiration as I continue to manage sugar. That purpose is a success.
My expanded purpose is to share my story with the world at large to possibly give hope to someone else wanting to be a little less large. I want to encourage others to find out they’re possible, too. And maybe help them laugh a little along the way.
I’ve developed (with some help from my husband and youngest daughter) a website www.maureenaliprandi.com. I also have a blog at www.impossiblejourneyblog.wordpress.com. You can purchase my book on Amazon in book or e-book formats. It is also available at Barnes & Noble and iUniverse. Feel free to leave comments or questions on my blogs or on my Facebook page. If you tweet, follow me @impossiblesugar. I have links to Instagram and Pinterest on my website, but I’m still developing my understanding of how to use them!
The working titles of my works in progress are The I’m Possible Runner: Learning to be Active after Fifty; and The I’m Possible Chef: Learning to Cook and Bake without Processed Sugar. My website and blogs will have more details as well as some samples (recipes, not actual food) to try!
Many thanks to Jena C. Henry for the opportunity to share my book on her blog. Many thanks to you for reading this. If you read my book and enjoy it, please tell someone else about it. They just might thank you, too!
I am a writer, blogger, book reviewer, and bon vivant and encourager. I have lived my entire life in Tropical Ohio. My goal is to make friends with everyone in the world. I wrote a fiction series, The Golden Age of Charli, that presents the problems and praises, and the love and laughter of family life and retirement. My passions are blogging, reading and reviewing, and writing. My life is a WIP.
